Lewis Hamilton was the fastest man in the first free practice session ever to be held in South Korea. The 2008 champion set the best time at the Yeongam Circuit. The times posted however will be rendered largely useless as the session was meerly a taster as the teams and drivers acclimatise themselves to the circuit. Pos [...]
This is cool. A "Plastic Wave" made out of 500 Pet bottles by TWOTHRIDS in co-operation with artist Kathleen Egan. The sculpture was exhibited at the Bread & Butter trade show in Germany. TWOTHIRD say; "It helped us create awareness on the fact that our ocean is becoming a giant landfill full of plastic but that we have the power to stop this". Alongside the exhibit TWOTHIRD collected signatures in a petition titled "Make a stand for an ocean free of plastic!". Nice one TWOTHIRD, and great work Kathleen!

Dana White is a longtime boxing fan so he’s seen on numerous occasions how rabid Mexican fight fans can be. Breaking into the Latino market has always been a goal of the UFC and they may finally have their guy if Mexican-American Cain Velasquez can pull the upset on UFC heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar at UFC 121.
"If Cain Velasquez wins on Saturday night, for the Hispanic market, it’s crazy," White told Karyn Bryant. "Mexicans and Puerto Ricans, when they have a champion, it’s crazy."
White pointed to the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez as a prime example.
"It’s like when Greg Haugen went down into Mexico City and said all that crazy stuff. I think that’s this type of fight," said White.
The prefight talk for the 1993 match got nasty.
"(Chavez’s 82-fight win streak consisted of) Tijuana taxi drivers that my mother could have knocked out," said Haugen. He also took a shot at the Mexican fans. "There aren’t 130,000 Mexicans who can afford tickets."
Chavez hyped the fight by saying, "I really hate him bad. When he looks at me, I want to vomit. I am going to give him the worst beating of his life. I am going to make him swallow the words that came out of his dirty mouth."
Chavez-Haugen drew 130,000-plus fans in Mexico City.
Velasquez overcoming the might of Lesnar, a 6-foot-3, 280-pound monster, who looks like he came straight out of video game, only adds to the passion of the Latino fans.
"Brock Lesnar is the guy that the Mexican community wants to see Cain Velasquez smash," said White.
The fanbase starting getting revved up during a Velasquez rally last Sunday in Los Angeles. It was a wild scene attended by a thousand-plus fight fans.
The Red Bull Motocross of Nations is getting ready for it’s 2010 edition, to be held at Thunder Valley MX Park in Lakewood, Colorado (just outside of Denver).
Some riders could change, hopefully. Everyone in the world would like to see 2010 World MX1 Champion Tony Cairoli and 2008 World MX1 Champion David Philippaerts on Team Italia.

Well, it’s happened. You’ve seen another California rafting season wear down to brass tacks. The Middle Fork has joined its bretheren at the river retirement home and now only the brave South Fork of the American soldiers on. We admit it–there’s nothing like a summer rafting trip with blazing temps and sunburned kids running all over [...]
The Hispania Racing Team needs one thing more than anything else: money. Thus the suggestion that it is going to buy the Toyota F1 facility in Cologne, plus an upgraded Toyota chassis to race in 2011, for a sum of around $50 million seems to be one of those F1 stories dreamed up by folk [...]

MMA H.E.A.T.’s Karyn Bryant spends a few moments with the always entertaining Quinton “Rampage” Jackson at the Huntington Beach Ultimate Training Center’s grand opening celebration. The former UFC and Pride champion talks about why he loves to train there, and also gives us a little bit of insight as to how he thinks the fight with Lyoto Machida will go at UFC 123. And when Quinton decides that the interview is over, it’s over..
Randy Couture has no plans of making another run at the UFC title, and while the 47-year-old’s fighting future is in doubt with his acting career on the rise, the hall of famer says he could return to the Octagon for more novelty fights like his August win over boxer James Toney.

I hope you enjoyed this weekend’s show. I’m writing this blog entry in the production office at 1am on Monday in Singapore (about three hours after the grand prix finished).
We stay on European time for the Singapore GP which means out of bed at 1pm, and into bed at 4am, which is strange but seems to work for the media and the teams.
Anyway, to this week’s blog.
I remember as a TV-obsessed kid wondering what happened when the presenters weren’t on screen, so I decided to show you!
I know lots of you are keen to get as close to F1 and the BBC’s coverage as possible, which is why I love doing the blogs and the tweets. But this weekend I’ve decided to up the ante.
I asked the director Richard if it was possible to record the talkback and the three camera feeds along with our actual output.
The result is embedded below. It is about as close as you’ll get to being an F1 presenter without actually doing it.
You can hear exactly what I hear as the show gets going. You’ll also spot the transmission on the bottom right as well as the three cameras we use.
Now, the start of the show is notoriously much easier than the end.
For the race build-up, we know pretty much what we’re going to do and who we’ll speak to. By contrast, after the programme we generally have 30-50 minutes to fill without any script or running order.
I’d love to know what you make of the video. You can hear last minute changes of shot, the plan unfolding inside the McLaren garage and how we make late, swift decisions to try to make the show as dynamic, exciting and entertaining as possible.
I should point out, by the way, that as the video was filmed within the confines of the Singapore track, it is only available to UK users.
Anyway, enough words, watch the video and let me know what you think!
Finally after MONTHS of hard grafting, the new website is online! The original website had a great innings; online since April 2006. But it was time for us to retire her, which was surprisingly hard to do (!)… And so we proudly present the new Club Of The Waves (hope you like it!)…
P.S. We hope it’s not broken in anyway, but if you find anything wrong with it, please let us know and we’ll get it fixed asap!
Josh's Rock Outfit for the tour includes the Darryl vintage inspired woven and Jim does his thing in the Esteban l/s woven…they don't need Fox to Rock but it's nice that they are! S
